The story of Wheels2Keels started in the year 2000. Michael has always been nomadic, but he had to change his way of thinking when he met Gigi in California, a state she had never left since birth. Slowly over the years, his enthusiasm for living in the most curious of places grew on her and she acquiesced when he suggested they revisit his idea of living in an RV, at least for traveling around the U.S. for a year or so.
This time, however, they had two kids (5-year-old Simone and 2-year-old Max) and safety and comfort were high on the list of priorities. After deciding a bus was going to be their next project, Michael bid on a 1978 MCI-5 Challenger on Ebay and emerged victorious!
This website documents the process of bus conversion and elucidates to readers what it’s like to live on a bus full-time with two small children.
Since the dreaming never ends with those blessed with wanderlust, we will share with you our next journey on the horizon: sailing and living on a catamaran. Our name Wheels2Keels describes where we are (on a bus) and where we want to go (on a boat).
